Help shape the future of healthcare in Ayrshire and Arran

  • by NHSAAA

Are you looking for a rewarding and meaningful role where you can make a real difference to healthcare across Ayrshire and Arran? Becoming a non-executive member of the Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board could be the perfect opportunity.

You don’t need to be a healthcare expert or have previous Board experience. We are keen to hear from people with a wide range of skills, backgrounds and perspectives.

As a non-executive member, you’ll help shape the strategic direction of the organisation, offering leadership, constructive challenge and support to ensure high-quality services for our communities. While the role does not involve day-to-day operational management, it plays a vital part in guiding and holding the organisation to account.

The successful candidate is expected to take up post in April 2027, with a start date to be agreed and confirmed by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care.

This is a fulfilling role that reflects your commitment to public service. It offers a flexible but important contribution, averaging around eight hours per week. This includes Board and committee meetings (typically held during the day), reviewing papers and engaging with stakeholders.

Lesley Bowie, Chair of Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board, said: “We are delighted to offer this opportunity to welcome two new non-executive members to the Board.

“These are meaningful roles for people who are passionate about contributing to decision making and ensuring strong accountability. For one of the roles, we are looking for an individual with expertise in transformational change. For the other, no specialist expertise is required.

“I would warmly encourage anyone who wants to make a positive difference to those living in Ayrshire and Arran to consider applying.”
