Protected Learning Time (PLT) for Community Pharmacies

As valued members of the wider healthcare team across NHS Ayrshire and Arran, all colleagues within Community Pharmacies are committed to giving patients the best possible care.

As part of this, Community Pharmacies may take part in a number of PLT sessions throughout the year.

This opportunity:

  • allows Community Pharmacies to carry out staff training for the whole pharmacy team
  • ensures their knowledge and skills remain up to date

As such, a number of Community Pharmacies across Ayrshire and Arran have chosen to participate in PLT training during October and November 2025.

Only the pharmacies listed below on each specific date will be participating in PLT and will close for half a day in their specified slots. All other Community Pharmacies will remain open to the public and will offer services as normal.

Where patients need to access Community Pharmacy services, and cannot wait until their regular Community Pharmacy reopens, signage should be in place directing patients to the nearest open Pharmacy.

We thank the public in their understanding of the benefit in whole-team training.
