NHS Ayrshire & Arran has congratulated the first graduates from the newly formed programme, Skills Sector.
Working in partnership, East Ayrshire Council, Ayrshire College and NHS Ayrshire & Arran formed a new programme Skills Sector which is designed to support young people with learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions to gain valuable employment skills.
Throughout 2025, eight interns successfully completed employability training and work experience placements within Support Services (Domestics, Portering, Catering and Waste), Cochlear Implant Programme, Medical Imaging, Maternity and Health Records at University Hospital Crosshouse.
We are delighted to announce that two of the interns have secured employment as Domestic Assistants and the others are actively applying for roles within the organisation.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Employability Advisor, Jonny Baillie said “I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations and warm wishes to all of the intern graduates. These young people have been truly inspirational.
“As always, we would like to extend our thanks to all mentors and supervisors within NHS Ayrshire & Arran who have helped make this new programme a success. It’s a wonderful example of partnership working and we are fully committed to continuing our work with East Ayrshire Council and Ayrshire College to deliver Skills Sector for more young people with learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions.”
