Adult and acute mental health services

Wards 9, 10 and 11 at Woodland view are classed as open wards, which provide effective, person centred care. This is delivered in a safe and therapeutic environment by caring, skilled and motivated staff to support individuals so they can achieve their optimum health and wellbeing.

All three wards have 20 single en-suite rooms and provide care for both male and female patients who are aged between 18 and 65.

The wards operate using multidisciplinary teams including staff from nursing, medicine, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietetics, psychology, social work and pharmacy. Also available are dentistry, podiatry, chaplaincy and advocacy services.

Ward 8 is a secure ward which provides care for both men and women who are suffering from an acute psychiatric illness and associated behaviours. Safe therapeutic management and treatment of people with these types of illnesses is not possible in an open ward. Ward 8 therefore has eight single en suite rooms.

Care and treatment offered is patient centred and the length of stay appropriate to clinical needs and assessment of risk.
