School age children (primary and secondary) – Flu vaccine information

In Scotland, the flu vaccine is offered to all primary and secondary school pupils in school. If your child has an eligible health condition they’re also offered the vaccine in school. They no longer need to get it from their GP. GPs no longer offer Flu Immunisation to children.

Parents should look out for consent forms in school bags this autumn and return these completed to the school as soon as possible. If you do not wish your child to receive the Flu vaccine please complete the consent form with a tick in the NO consent box.

For more details on what to expect please visit NHS Inform: Child flu vaccine | NHS inform

If your child is in primary school and has missed their appointment or school clinic, or has been given an appointment that’s not suitable, they can attend a Childhood Vaccination Team drop-in session.
