Community Physiotherapy Rehabilitation

This page relates to Community Physiotherapy services on mainland Ayrshire and the Isle of Cumbrae.

We are three teams – based in each of the three health and social care partnerships in Ayrshire.

East Ayrshire:

  • Johnnie Walker Bond, Kilmarnock
  • East Ayrshire Community Hospital, Cumnock

North Ayrshire:

  • Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Centre, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine
  • Brooksby Medical Resource Centre, Largs

South Ayrshire:

  • Biggart Hospital, Prestwick
  • Girvan Community Hospital

What do we do?

We provide physiotherapy care for adults over the age of 16 who are unable to leave their home/care home or require to be seen in their own environment.

We often work together with other community services including community OT, Community Nursing and palliative care services.

Conditions frequently seen include:

  • falls
  • reduced mobility
  • post hospital discharge following illness, surgery or trauma
  • neurological and stroke conditions
  • palliative conditions

Contact us

Referral for community physiotherapy can be made by a health or social care professional. All referrals are triaged on receipt to ensure they are sitting with the most appropriate service and to allow for prioritisation based on clinical need.

Single point of contact:

Walking aids

If you have an NHS walking aid that requires repair, please contact the single point of contact for your local area, listed above.

We will also replace worn ferrules, the rubber stopper at the bottom of a walking aid, on any walking aid issued by the NHS. The ferrules in the image below are examples of worn ferrules.
