Preparing pupils for school immunisations

Welcome to our S1 immunisation portal where you can find information regarding preparing your child for their school immunisations.

What to do: before, on the day & after immunisation

Before school immunisations

  • All Information packs/leaflets given to pupils should be shared with their parent/carer and discussed jointly.
  • The consent form should be completed and returned to School at earliest opportunity.

On the day of immunisation

  • Pupils will be offered immunisation by a qualified Nurse who is part of the school immunisation team. They have vast experience and knowledge surrounding immunisations and are excellent in supporting pupils through the experience.
  • Ensure pupil is wearing loose fitting or short sleeved clothing to allow easy access for the injection.
  • Ensure the pupil has eaten prior to vaccination. Having water and a snack for later can also be helpful.

After immunisation

  • Manage mild side effects if required.

Childhood Immunisations

Our childhood teams deliver all vaccinations to children 0-6yrs, primary and secondary school children.
