NHS Ayrshire & Arran is reminding senior pupils, across all Ayrshire secondary schools about the opportunity to apply for its upcoming #FutureWorkforce Work Experience Week, taking place from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October 2026.

This exciting initiative, covering a total of 123 placements, across a wide range of services will offer young people a valuable insight into careers within the NHS and wider health and social care sector. 

The programme is open to all S5 and S6 pupils, who can apply online by completing an application here – NHS A&A #FutureWorkForce Work Experience 2026 Student Application Form .  Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 3 July 2026.

Pupils will benefit from a structured and engaging programme, including:

  • Monday – Induction session with the Work Experience Team and guest speakers from current NHS staff
  • Tuesday to Thursday – Three-day placement (9am–3pm) in a chosen area
  • Friday – Celebration event, including a certificate of completion and further activities to be confirmed

Placements opportunities are offered across various NHS Ayrshire & Arran sites and local council areas, giving pupils a broad exposure to different careers within the health sector. Some of the roles include:

  • Administrative roles
  • Nursing and Midwifery
  • Allied Health Professions
  • Dental services
  • Support services
  • Healthcare science
  • Health and Social Care Partnerships
  • And many more
