Area Professional Committees

Have your say on important issues affecting your profession

A number of our Professional Committees are seeking new members for a four year term, beginning on 1 April 2024.

This is an opportunity for you to:

  • get involved
  • have your say about how your services are developed across NHS Ayrshire & Arran
  • provide advice to the NHS Board

What do the Professional Committees do?

Professional Committees represent a wide range of health professions across NHS Ayrshire & Arran. They provide profession-specific advice to the NHS Board on a range of healthcare issues affecting the local population.

We’re currently working to improve healthcare and care services in Ayrshire and Arran through the Caring for Ayrshire vision. Our Professional Advisory Committees will play a crucial role in exploring innovative ways of designing and delivering these services for our citizens.

Each committee is represented at the Area Clinical Forum (ACF) with the ACF Chair, who is a non-executive member of the NHS Board, representing the professional committees.  ACF members also have an opportunity to participate and engage in the annual Ministerial Review.

The Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board welcomes the involvement of ACF. It encourages each of its committees to have a strong voice in providing robust and professional advice to the Board on clinical matters.

For more information on Advisory Committees and the support they provide to the ACF and NHS Board see the The Blueprint for Good Governance in NHS Scotland, paragraphs 4.91 to 4.97.
