Adrian Carragher

Adrian Carragher was appointed to the NHS Ayrshire & Arran Board on 18 August 2019 in his capacity as the elected Chair of Area Clinical Forum.

Adrian has been an audiologist for over 30 years and has enjoyed a varied career in both the Scottish NHS and the Hearing Aid Industry where he has been able to develop as an audiologist working across all age groups from new-borns and the very young in the identification of hearing loss to the adult population and the elderly with the delivery of hearing aid services and as someone with knowledge and experience of how Audiology care and services are delivered in other sectors and markets.

In January 2015, Adrian became the Healthcare Science National Lead for Physiological Sciences.  This has involved working at national, regional and local levels to drive improvement in quality across the range of services provided by Healthcare Scientists in Physiological Sciences. Adrian continues to provide policy advice to Scottish Government around audiology matters in particular.

Adrian has been involved in a range of regional and national projects and groups over the years as diverse as education and training of student audiologists in both a teaching and examining capacity to membership of a number of Commodity Advisory Panels at National Procurement contributing to the work required to deliver best value for money for the goods and services used by NHS Scotland’s Audiology Services.

His most recent local activities have led to involvement in a number of working groups such as the Writing Group for Caring for Ayrshire and membership of one of the Organisation’s “Extreme Teams”.

Adrian is a member of Audit Committee, Healthcare Governance Committee (as vice chair) and Staff Governance Committee.  He is also a NHS non-executive member of the North Ayrshire Integration Joint Board.
