Long-serving NHS Ayrshire & Arran colleagues were honoured at a special celebration event recognising their outstanding contribution to patients, communities and the NHS over more than four decades of service.
Held at University Hospital Crosshouse, the event brought together colleagues whose dedication, professionalism and compassion have helped shape health and care services across Ayrshire and Arran over many years.
Guests enjoyed afternoon tea while sharing memories, reflecting on the changes they have experienced throughout their careers, and celebrating the impact they have made on countless patients, families and communities. Each colleague marking this significant milestone received a commemorative pin and card in recognition of their contribution.
The celebration cake was cut by the organisation’s two longest-serving colleagues, Aileen Brown, Health Visitor in Holmhead Medical Practice, and Robert Johnstone, Operating Department Practitioner, recognising their exceptional commitment and lasting impact over many decades.
Lesley Bowie, Chair of Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board, said: “Reaching more than 40 years of service is an extraordinary achievement and a testament to the dedication, compassion and commitment of these remarkable colleagues.
“Across four decades, they have touched countless lives, supported communities through times of change, and helped shape the services we provide today. It was a privilege to celebrate their achievements and thank them for the difference they continue to make every day.

It was a real pleasure to meet so many of them and hear the inspiring stories, memories and experiences from their NHS journeys.
