Designed with the aim of giving patients quicker access to physiotherapy support, people living in Girvan, Maybole and the wider Carrick area recently benefitted from a special community appointment day.
Hosted by NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service at Girvan Community Hospital the event was able to provide 28 patients with a full MSK assessment, most of whom were waiting less than four weeks following being placed on the waiting list. Some of the comments from those who attended:

Patients were also provided with input during their appointment by Occupational Therapy colleagues. This multi-disciplinary approach ensured each person had a thorough, person‑centred appointment tailored to their individual needs.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran MSK Service Manager, Yvonne Quinn said, “The event has been very successful and well received by those who were able to attend.
“Through successful partnership working, made possible through close collaboration with South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, the event was able to support wider health and wellbeing for patients. I want to thank the local community groups, charities and third‑sector organisations who attended. Their involvement helped connect patients with valuable local resources, offering support beyond their clinical care.
“Following the success of the Girvan event, the MSK Physiotherapy Service will now review the outcomes and look to offer similar community‑based appointment days across Ayrshire and Arran in the future.”
