NHS Ayrshire & Arran has been recognised at the Digital Health and Care Awards 2026. The organisation won the Data Driven Innovation and Collaboration Award for its successful partnership with the Holly Health app, which supports users to take control of their health and manage their own conditions through digital behaviour‑change coaching.

More than 11,000 local residents have used the app, which offers 24/7 personalised support to help people build healthier habits and manage their wellbeing. Available to patients of all GP practices in Ayrshire and Arran, the project has now expanded into public health services and secondary care pathways including cardiac rehabilitation, pain management and weight management services.

Data* shows that patients using the app can benefit from strong health improvements by using the digital tool to support physical and mental health habit changes, with the goal of improving long-term health outcomes. There has been a significant reduction in the need for GP appointments from those using the app in Ayrshire and Arran.

Alexia Pellowe, Clinical Director, East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. Our partnership with Holly Health shows how digital tools can empower people to take small, sustainable steps towards better health. Not only is it helping patients, particularly those living with multiple long-term conditions, but its easing pressure on Primary Care services. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teams, our GP practices, and—most importantly—the thousands of residents who have embraced a new approach to self‑management.”
