Staff at Ayrshire Maternity Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse have welcomed their first babies of 2026.
Baby Arabella was born at 12.14am, weighing 8lb 9oz. A daughter for Lucy-Jane Bark and Luke Hutchinson, from Stevenston, North Ayrshire. Arabella was very likely the first baby born in Scotland in 2026!
Next to arrive was baby Hugh, born at 2.35am, weighing 9lb 1oz. Hugh is a son for Holly and Lee McLaughlan and brother to big sister Dallis, who is 18 months old. The family live in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire.
At 3.14am baby Valerie made her arrival, weighing 5lb 11oz. Valerie’s mum, Paige Borland and dad, Lee Bown, live in Maybole, South Ayrshire.
