Chief Executive Gordon James reflects on 2025 and looks ahead to 2026
“On behalf of NHS Ayrshire & Arran, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff working across health and social care for everything they do, every day and every week of the year.
“I joined the organisation just four months ago and, in that time, I’ve been truly inspired by the dedication, compassion and professionalism shown by our staff.
“2025 has been another challenging year and it’s important to acknowledge that. Yet, alongside those challenges, there have been so many positive changes and success stories across our healthcare system. Every single day, our staff deliver excellent, person-centred care, and that is something I am extremely proud of.
“Throughout the year, we’ve had many colleagues recognised locally and nationally for their outstanding contributions, reminding us of the high-quality care that we deliver every day. Despite rising demands, financial pressures and other challenges, the commitment of our staff to our patients has never wavered and that is inspiring.
“Looking ahead to 2026, we remain focused on delivering our Caring for Ayrshire programme: bringing care close to home; strengthening community partnerships; and ensuring timely access to specialist services.
“As we approach the festive season, I would like to thank all our staff working across health and social care. A special thank you to those working over the festive period – your efforts are deeply appreciated.
“I would like to wish you and your family a happy and safe celebration period and send my best wishes for a happy and healthy 2026.”
