Staff Equalities Networks

An inclusive workplace is a vital part of ensuring a supportive, innovative and welcoming culture for our diverse staff.  To support this, NHS Ayrshire & Arran has three dedicated Staff Networks:

  • Ethnic Minority Staff Network (EMSN)
  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ+) Staff Network
  • Disability Staff Network

All three staff networks offer the following:

  • It is a safe space in which you can share concerns and ask questions
  • Provide peer group support
  • Keep up to date with what is going on in terms of equality, diversity and equity
  • Contribute towards the development of resources, training and events
  • Be supported around day to day challenges
  • Make your voice heard and be part of a collective voice too
  • Highlight areas for improvement and areas of success

Ethnic Minority Staff Network (EMSN)

NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s EMSN aims to create a supportive working environment for our ethnic minority employees while also encouraging all staff within the Board to understand the needs of individuals from ethnic minorities within our workforce and in the community.  It is open to any ethnic minority staff members across the organisation to join.

LGBTQ+ Staff Network

NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s LGBTQ+ staff network aims to provide an arena for LGBTQ+ staff to raise their concerns, in a safe and confidential environment. The network also seeks to enable LGBTQ+ staff to feel that they are part of and have a vital role to play in the work of the Board.  It is open to anyone across the organisation who identifies as LGBTQ+ to join.

Disability Staff Network

The Disability Staff Network aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for staff with a disability or long term condition, including Long Covid, to ask questions, share information, and shape the agenda on all matters relating to disability and long-term conditions.
