NHS Ayrshire & Arran is helping to raise awareness of gender-based violence as part of the 16 Days of Action campaign.

The 16 Days of Action awareness campaign takes place every year, beginning on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and runs until Human Rights Day on 10 December.

Throughout this 16-day period, the campaign raises awareness of violence against women (VAW) and provides an important opportunity to call for changes to make women and children safe from abuse.

To launch the campaign, Chief Executive for NHS Ayrshire & Arran, Gordon James and Dr Crawford McGuffie, Medical Director, accompanied by other members of the senior management team, showed their support by signing the White Ribbon Pledge to ‘never to commit, condone or remain silent about men’s violence against women.’

Gordon James, Chief Executive for NHS Ayrshire & Arran commented,

“I am delighted to support this campaign to end violence against women and girls. By raising awareness of gender-based violence, we are helping to encourage discussion and to support personal and collective action.”
