Infant mental health conference
'Infant mental health - investing in the future'
conference 7 March 2012
Introduction
The conference aimed to highlight and build on existing best
practice in relation to infant mental health, raise its strategic
profile and identify challenges and opportunities for the future.
There was an emphasis on 0 - 3 years and the need for a strong
foundation in mental health and wellbeing from the very start of a
child's life.
The event was supported by NHS Health Scotland
and delivered in partnership with NHS Fife
and NHS Lanarkshire.
What was included in the conference?
The programme consisted of a number of excellent speakers
including: Professor Susan Deacon from the University of Edinburgh,
Chief Medical Officer for Scotland Sir Harry Burns, Detective Chief
Superintendent John Carnochan from the Violence Reduction Unit of
Scotland and Dr Christine Puckering from Mellow Parenting.
The event also looked at good practice examples from NHS
Ayrshire & Arran and our partners, NHS Health Scotland, NHS
Fife and NHS Lanarkshire.
Question and answer sessions allowed participants the
opportunity to comment on speaker's presentations. There was
also an interactive session involving Play@Home, a market
stall and workshops.
