C - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service is based around three locality teams, consisting of specialist clinicians who can offer assessment and a range of interventions.

Interventions can vary from short term treatments for those with mild to moderate mental health problems; to more complex treatments for children and young people experiencing more severe and complex problems.  Assessment and treatment can be offered to children from birth to age 16 (18 if in full time secondary education and/or who are Looked After and Accommodated).

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services teams (CAMHS) can be contacted as follows:

All above services can be contacted Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm.

Referrals to CAMHs:  should be made through individual's General Practitioner (GP), Social Work, or Education Services. Out-of-hours access to Mental Health Services is available through NHS24 on 08454 24 24 24 in the first instance.  Other access routes may be used in other specific emergency situations.

Island communities
Out-of-hours access will be through the on-call GP in the first instance.
