A popular support group for people wanting to quit smoking is moving venue.
The group, run by NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Fresh Air-shire Smoking Cessation Service, has been offering help and advice for the past four years every Wednesday from Cumnock Health Centre.
The new venue is East Ayrshire Community Hospital which will now host two weekly groups:
- East Ayrshire Community Hospital, Wednesday, 6pm – 7pm
- East Ayrshire Community Hospital, Thursday, 12pm – 1pm
New members are always welcome and no appointment is needed, just pop along.
Elaine Young, Assistant Director of Public Health, said: “People coming along to the group will receive advice and support as well as access to all licensed treatments, free of charge. These include patches, mouth-spray, inhalators, Champix and many more.
“Our specialist advisors can help you if you are trying to give up smoking using an e-cigarette. Although we can’t provide e-cigs, we can give the support to change behaviours that makes a big difference to being successful in quitting smoking.”
