Statement by Eddie Fraser, Director of East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership
NHS Ayrshire & Arran and our partners in the Health and Social Care Partnerships are committed to ensuring that people have high quality access to local health and care services.
Glencairn Medical Practice, which ran general medical services in Kilmaurs and Crosshouse resigned from their contract from 1 August 2017. Since that time, NHS Ayrshire & Arran has been responsible for providing general medical services from these sites.
We are delighted that we have successfully tendered half of the practice to a new GP partnership. This will cover the Crosshouse surgery and will take effect from Wednesday 1 November. The Partnership is led by experienced doctors who currently run a practice in Glasgow
We are currently working closely with a team of doctors who are joining us as salaried GPs from 1 November. These doctors will operate in the Kilmaurs surgery from Wednesday 1 November, which will initially remain under NHS Ayrshire & Arran management. We hope that in the future, this practice will return to being independently operated.
We would apologise once more to the local communities for the uncertainly caused by these changes. We are now looking forward to a period of greater stability with these new GPs providing high quality general medical services as part of the highly experienced practice teams.
