Statement by Eddie Fraser, Director of East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership
NHS Ayrshire & Arran and our partners in the Health and Social Care Partnerships are committed to ensuring that people have high quality access to local health and care services.
Glencairn Medical Practice, which operates from Kilmaurs and Crosshouse, and which serves a large geographical area, informed us of their intention to resign from their contract of providing general medical services in March 2017.
Since this time, we have been in negotiations with the Practice to find a solution which would be acceptable to all parties.
Regrettably, we have been unable to reach an agreement with the partners of Glencairn Medical Practice. Therefore, from Friday 1 September 2017, NHS Ayrshire & Arran will assume the management of this practice from both locations in Kilmaurs and Crosshouse.
We recognise the uncertainty during these negotiations has caused anxiety in patients of the practice and we apologise for this. At all times, we have acted in our patients best interests in making the Practice sustainable.
We will continue to provide general medical services to the patients of this Practice from both surgeries. We are actively in the process of advertising the availability of the contract to GPs who may wish to provide general medical services from these locations.
