Under Agenda for Change terms and conditions, NHS Ayrshire & Arran has concluded the exercise to identify those staff who did not always receive the enhanced payment for working unsocial hours in the evening, at night, over the weekend and/or on a general public holiday.

This exercise highlighted that there were 2455 current employees and 206 leavers who did not always receive the enhanced payment. Arrears payments have been made to these staff members.

As these affected staff members do not have a fixed pattern of work, it is not always possible to identify the shift that they would have worked had they not been on annual leave and therefore if they would have worked a shift that attracted an unsocial hours payment. A new functionality within the Scottish Standard Time System (SSTS) has been identified, which ensures that an unsocial hours payment is included for relevant staff.
