101 Medical Practice

Statement by Eddie Fraser, Director, East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership

NHS Ayrshire & Arran and our partners in the Health and Social Care Partnerships are committed to ensuring that people have high quality access to local health services.

101 Medical Practice in Troon has been experiencing recruitment difficulties for doctors following the notification that two partners are to retire next year, and the remaining two partners taking the decision to subsequently resign the practice contract. NHS Ayrshire & Arran will advertise the availability of the contract to GPs who may wish to provide general medical services as an independent practice.

Should the contract remain unfilled, NHS Ayrshire & Arran will ensure that patients continue to receive access to General Medical Services, and will take over the management of the surgery from 1 April 2018.

We would like to assure patients that we will continue to provide services from the practice. We will work with the highly experienced clinical and other staff in the Practice and will bring in additional GPs and other professionals to ensure patients’ needs are met.

We would ask patients who are currently registered with the practice, to remain registered there. This will ensure that the neighbouring practices are able to maintain their current patient lists.

All practice staff will remain employed at the practice and will have their employment terms and conditions preserved.
